LUMEN8ANACOSTIA: A free day and night kick-off festival featuring art, light, and music festival in historic Anacostia. The kick-off festival is followed by six weeks of creative events culminating in a finale event.
LUMEN8ANACOSTIA 2013
LUMEN8ANACOSTIA 2013 will kickoff Saturday, June 22nd with a 12-hour day and night festival with creative events, performances, artistic installations, and family friendly events.
When the sun goes down the Martin Luther King Jr. Ave SE and Good Hope Rd SE main streets will come alive with illuminated storefronts, landmarks and murals. Creative spaces from Good Hope Road up Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue will showcase the works of local fine artists, artisans and creative entrepreneurs. The festival will include performances by visual artists, dancers and actors throughout the day and into the night.
LUMEN8ANACOSTIA kicks off Saturday, June 22nd and runs through Saturday, August 10th.
Creating LUMEN8ANACOSTIA
ARCH Development Corporation
ARCH Development Corporation (ADC) is a twenty-five year old 501[c] [3] not-for-profit community based organization that believes arts and the creative economy can be employed as part of a comprehensive, synergistic approach to community revitalization in the Anacostia community of Washington, DC. Founded in 1991, the organization began providing small scale neighborhood and business development. In 2004, the Board developed a strategic plan that lead to a change in focus. ADC believes that, in collaboration with other community groups, arts and cultural activities will not only support the individual artist, but it will fuel economic growth while providing programming for residents that is currently unavailable.
